12 Best Hotels in Progreso Mexico (2025)
Are you looking for the best hotels in Progreso Mexico during your next vacation? I stayed in Progreso twice for several days, and with this guide, I want to give you some tips on what to consider before booking. So you can enjoy what this beach town in Yucatán has to offer: Sugar-white sand beaches, a long and lively malecón (beach promenade), great gastronomy, Mayan ruins, and – of course – the world’s longest pier!
To make the most of your stay, make sure to choose an accommodation that meets your needs. Whether you seek a romantic getaway, a family-friendly accommodation, or a budget-friendly stay, Progreso offers a diverse range of hotels to suit every taste and budget. Let’s get started!
Ranking Methodology
I researched the following list of hotels considering a combination of factors including proximity to the malecón or the beach, amenities, and ambiance. Hotel preferences are subjective, however, but I hope that with my knowledge of the area, I can give you some good tips. I left out those accommodations where you rent the complete house for more than 3-4 guests, assuming that you won’t be traveling with a bunch of friends. I also left out those hotels with several bad reviews that would stop me from booking a room there myself.
Please note that some hotels are in Progreso directly, and others in the adjacent towns. I’ve noted for each hotel the pros and cons that come with that.

1. Playa Linda Hotel (Ranked #1 for Overall Value)
Playa Linda Hotel is one of the most popular hotels in Progreso for its prime location at the malecón (beach promenade). From the rooms facing the beach, you have a stunning sea view from their balcony. Relax at the outdoor pool or enjoy delicious meals at the on-site restaurant. You’re only 3 blocks from the pier and thus have a very central location.
The downside is that it can get noisy at the malecón, especially on the weekends.
2. Hotel Scappata (Ranked #2 for Modern Amenities)
This 3-star hotel provides a modern beachfront experience directly at the malecón. Some of the stylish rooms have balconies with ocean views. Guests can take a refreshing dip in the rooftop pool, soak up the sun on the spacious terrace, or indulge in a rejuvenating treatment at the on-site spa. Hotel Scappata prioritizes guest comfort with amenities like poolside towel service and in-room minibars. Guests of Hotel Scappata can use beach loungers at the beach against consumption.
Con: Again, as it’s directly on the malecón, it can get noisy during the weekends.
3. Tecnohotel Casa Villamar (Ranked #3 for its Quiet Location)
Tecnohotel Casa Villamar is a well-maintained charming colonial hotel. The rooms of this 4-star hotel are spacious and some are equipped with a minibar.
Due to its location (second line to the beach and 3 blocks east of the malecón), this hotel provides a more relaxed and quiet atmosphere than the before-mentioned hotels. An in-house restaurant caters to your needs, so you don’t even have to leave the hotel to enjoy breakfast or a meal. The outdoor pool with its beach lounges invites you to relax. There’s spacious private parking. We stayed here for 4 nights and loved it!
4. The Mayan Gypsy Boutique Art Hotel (Ranked #4 for its Boutique Art)
The Mayan Gypsy Boutique Art Hotel is for art lovers and those who prefer to feel at home rather than being just another hotel guest. Each room is individually decorated, and the hosts go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and keep everything clean. Guests have access to a great kitchen and dining area. There’s free parking available. There’s an outdoor pool area with beach lounges and plants, you‘ll feel like you’re in a beautiful oasis. Please note that there’s a 2-night minimum stay, and currently you can only book it by contacting the hotel.
5. Cabañas Jaalkab in Chelém (Ranked #5 for Its Unique Lodging Style)
This hotel is perfect if you prefer an individual lodging style apart from the tourist crowds: Guests stay in traditional cabañas (palm-roofed cabins) with a little terrace where you can relax in a hammock. The beds have mosquito nets, air conditioning, and a minibar. At the shared pool, you’ll find sunbeds and a grill, and you can rent bikes. Across the street is a restaurant. When you go to the lonely beach close by, you can borrow beach chairs and umbrellas.
The accommodation is in Chelém, about a 20-minute drive from Progreso. The hosts offer an airport shuttle service.
6. Puerto del Cielo (Ranked #6 as Romantic Getaway)
This family-run accommodation directly facing the beachfront offers exclusive suites, some of which have a sea view or a private pool. The modern-designed rooms have a patio or balcony. The hotel lies in Chuburná, which is a small town to the west of Progreso. You’ll be away from the crowded tourist areas to enjoy an intimate, quiet, and private space off the waterfront. Best if you come by car, or decide to stay close to the location. If you want to have the beach almost for yourself and don’t mind being a bit further from stores, this is your place to be.
You can rent a kayak or snorkel, watch the sunset from your private terrace, or hear the waves crashing against the shore.
7. Hotel Maria´s Nicte Ha – (Ranked #7 for Feeling At Home Close to the Beach)
Hotel Maria´s Nicte Ha is only 2 blocks from the beach on the left side of the pier. Compared to other hotels, it provides all the amenities families might need by providing a shared community kitchen or some rooms have their own kitchen. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool and garden, and make use of the shuttle service and bike rentals. Families will enjoy the apartments with kitchens. Some rooms have a balcony.
8. Casa Frida (Ranked #8 for its Family-Friendly Cabins)
If you love the rustic atmosphere of palm-thatched cabins, this 3-star hotel is a great choice. The rooms are climatized and have a small kitchenette. The accommodation offers private parking, and you can relax at the outdoor pool or on a hammock on the terrace. As it’s in Chelem about a 15-minute drive west of Progreso’s city center, it’s best to come by car.
9. Pedacito del Cielo (Ranked #9 for Longer Stays and Fast Internet)
This apartment is perfect for longer stays or digital nomads. It’s well equipped with a kitchen, washing machine, living room, 2 bedrooms, and fast internet. You’re just one block from the beach, and you have a terrace, an outdoor pool, and a bathroom with a bathtub. The hosts are very nice and helpful with anything you need for your stay.
Be aware that the apartment lies between Progreso and Chicxulub, and the beach close to it isn’t the most beautiful. So if you want to spend the whole day at the beach, better take a ride to the malecón in Progreso. The buses operate until about 8:30 PM and there are also taxis, or just come by car.
10. Hotel & Suites Domani (Ranked #10 for Its Location)
Directly at the malecón facing the sea, this 3-star hotel has an outdoor pool and a gym. Make sure to pick a room with a balcony and a view of the beach. The hotel itself is not the most modern one, but its perfect location makes up for it. Just 3 blocks down the street, you can visit the Meteorite Museum or have a coffee at the Starbucks on the museum’s grounds. At the malecón, you’ll find various options for whining and dining.
11. Hotel Yaxactun (Ranked #11 for Cleanliness and Comfort)
Hotel Yaxactun is another hotel in the city center just 4 blocks from the beach. It’s at the same height as the Meteorite Museum on the malecón. Guests can relax at the small outdoor pool or unwind in the inviting lobby. The rooms are modern and clean.
12. Hotel San Miguel (Ranked #12 for Being a Bargain in the City Center)
For those who don’t mind walking 800m to the beach, Hotel San Miguel is a perfect choice for a short stay. Very close to the bus station and the Parque Independencia, this charming hotel in the city center offers basic but comfortable rooms. Hotel San Miguel prioritizes a peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for relaxation. While quieter, it’s still within walking distance of the malecón.
Conclusion
Many hotels in Progreso cater to your needs. Think upfront about what is important to you, and then choose the hotel you like most. Do you want to stay at the malecón, or do you prefer to be away from the bustle? Do you need a beach view, or would you prefer to stay close to the city center? Choose the right stay for your needs and enjoy your vacation in Progreso!
